Save the Ta tas Doll

I made a Flamingo for the doll auction. . I just thought she represented a fun way of showing save the ta tas as an older lady dressed to the nines, but knowing enough to wear comfortable shoes to dance in. This is an original pattern designed by me for a contest by the Dollmakers Journey, the funky flamingo doll; for the Flamingo Casino in Las Vegas. I came in third place; not bad for a beginner. First I made the doll then had to make a pattern. The original was given to a friend for her motorhome. She is a fun doll to make and dress.

Gazing Balls WIP this where I work on them. Nice and shady.

Moved the mosaic gazing balls to one area, so I can finish cleaning them. I like them all lined up so you see them as you come in the back driveway. I have to decide what to do with them. They are addicting to make.
picture taken in the early morning with brite sun on them. They have a lot of colored glass and mirrors on them that do not show up. Operator error.

The link for breast Cancer Awareness Call for Artists is
http://www.thedolliemama.com/CALL_FOR_ARTISTS.htm . ; which will explain the fundraiser. There is also a link on the page which opens the Artist Participation Form we ask everyone to complete that wants to enter a doll. I really have to finish my doll so I can get it in to the doll club and let them handle it from there.

Mary's pattern in chemise undies

here she is finished, also two masked ball dolls from Arley's class at CIFI.

I am entering an art doll for the Breast Cancer Awareness Fund Raiser Save the TA Tas. This is sponsored by Gallery 225 and Dollie Mama and the Fabric Floozie Doll Club in AZ. All art dolls will be on display starting Oct 9 thru the 15th. I am working on this so I don't have pictures yet.

It is hot and dry almost everything in the garden has dried up. I was looking to add some color to the yard. I love working with colored glass, but not really up to doing big projects. I found the

garden junk forum and have copied a few ideas from there. These are garden spheres and stands made from recycled objects. Smashed plates, glass, mirrors etc. not finished yet, but working on them hope to be finished soon.

July in AZ

HOT. its ok its a dry heat so I hear. Been catching up on a few ufos. Here is Camel and his brother. This is from a class by Nancy Gawron. . I have been slowly getting organized in my studio. Just don't know where all of this stuff came from and why did I need it. Boxes of fabric are being moved to the storage unit. I have enough quilt tops finished for the Veterans wheel chair quilts. I decided to just tie them and get them finished for the fall. I put them on a small frame then I just tie them and bind them off. They are not doing any good just sitting in a pile waiting to be finished. I will go fabric shopping in my storage shed when I get these finished. Fabric acquiring is so addicting. What if they quit selling the stuff??

June mid month update catching up.

Life sure gets in the way. Too many things have been getting in the way of playing dolls and crafts.
In May I went to CIFI Conference in Albuquerque. This is an online doll group that I belong to. Creations in Fibre.Inc. I had a three day class with Arley Berryhill, a very extraordinary designer. To learn more see his website. The class that I took was titled Masked Ball, an original pattern designed by Arley. She is of no particular period in time, just having fun at a masked ball. He took us through how to make a really full skirted doll with layers of fabrics. How to embellish the costume and How to make a really tall mohair wig. Then we had a class on how to make a tiny mask-very elegant creation and how to do extreme makeup. Waiting for pictures will post a when I get them.
I had a class by Donna Cole on cloth origami kimones. What fun. Here is a picture of the one I made. I have since made several more and used them to say Birthday wishes to friends.

I also had a craft class with Yvonne Nathanson on using molds and tyvek and embellishing to make some wonderful art pins to wear. These sure are conversation pieces. Here is a photo of two that I made.

These are really a lot of fun to wear. No two are alike as the tyvek has a mind of its own and you have to play with what happens to it.
This was a great conference where we get to see eachother once a year and learn new things.

My yard has just been beaurtiful; with all of the cacti that have bloomed. I do have pictures, but not sure where I filed them. I am trying to get organized, but like YODA says "Do or do not there is no try." Here is a picture of my Texas ranger in bloom , not a cactus but very pretty.

From the Ffties

Our Local Bar the Ocotillo Lodge is sponsoring a car show this weekend. I dressed the mannequin in a pink circle skirt, decorated with an aqua blue poodle, of course crinolines, aqua angora sweater and saddle shoes. Straight from high school days of the fifties. I forgot to take a picture before I brought her in. So only a close up shot in the crowded bar is all I have. I have been taking an online class on how to do beaded headresses. So far all I have done is read the lesson, and order the supplies. Christmas descorations are down and the house sure looks bare. The weather is so great that it is hard to stay inside. I have been repotting some of the cacti that have gotten too big for their pots. Here is a picture of one that is in bloom .I forgot the name of this caxctus, I have to look it up, but it is blooming in January.
